Orthopaedic Surgery education at Iowa has a long and successful tradition.
The Orthopaedic Program was started by Arthur Steindler, MD, in 1913, and
since then has been led by three other outstanding and internationally
recognized orthopaedic surgeons, Carroll Larson, MD, Reginald Cooper, MD,
and Joseph Buckwalter, MD. Since Steindler's time, the department
has been committed to providing an outstanding orthopaedic education
that prepares individuals to be skilled, compassionate orthopaedists with
a broad base of experience and knowledge.
