Comprehensive Evaluation and Treatment of Hearing Loss
The mission of the Audiology subdivision of the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery is to:
- Evaluate and treat hearing loss for patients of all ages
- Conduct research which is focused on improving diagnostic and treatment processes
The roles and responsibilities of our audiologists extend from providing comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to supporting many interrelated research
projects such as the Cochlear Implant Project and Tinnitus Therapy Research.
A full range of diagnostic services for patients of all ages is provided. Clinical services include:
- Audiometry
- Acoustic impedance measurements
- Auditory brainstem response testing
- Otoacoustic emissions testing
- Infant hearing screening
- Intra-operative monitoring
- Balance/dizziness evaluations
- Electroacoustic analysis of hearing aids
- Cochlear implant programming
The management and treatment options provided include:
- Dispensing, fitting, and training in the use of hearing aids and assistive listening devices and on-going management
- Cochlear implant evaluations, device programming, and on-going management
- Tinnitus Therapy Research
