Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Services
Our History

Organized in the 1940s, the Iowa Cleft Palate Team continues to serve patients and their families as part of the UI Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery. Since the Iowa team is one of the oldest in the country, our members and our contributions are well known throughout the United States and around the world. Several of our members have served as elected and appointed officers of the American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association, the National Cleft Palate Foundation, and the International Congress on Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Disorders. NIH funding through the National Institute of Dental & Craniofacial Research grants assist many projects currently underway.
