Certified audiologists perform hearing aid evaluations at
UI Hospitals and Clinics Hearing Aid Clinic. During the evaluation, the
audiologist will recommend the hearing aid(s) that best
suits your needs. The initial evaluation fee is
non-refundable. The hearing aid cost includes the aid
itself, the fitting of the hearing aid(s), orientation to
the proper use and care of the device(s), as well as
follow-up services within the warranty period of the hearing
aid, typically two years.
Patients should be aware that it takes a minimum of two
visits to properly fit new hearing aids. In addition, about
two weeks after the initial hearing aid(s) fit patients are
scheduled to return for a follow-up visit. Further visits
may be necessary for physical or acoustic adjustments. If
patients are unable to travel to our clinic conveniently for
follow-up services, they may opt to purchase hearing aids
from our clinic and receive follow-up services from a local
hearing aid dispenser. We would be happy to furnish a list
of dispensers in your area upon request.
When you purchase hearing aid(s), you have a 30-day trial
period during which time we work with you to adjust your
hearing aid(s) to meet your needs. We may need to see you
several times during this trial period if you are having
difficulties. If you are dissatisfied with the hearing
aid(s), you have an option to exchange them or return them
for a refund within the trial period. There is a
non-refundable fee of $100 should you decide to return the
hearing aid(s).
