Speech and Swallowing Services Available

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Speech and Swallowing Service provides multiple areas of service at the local, state, and national levels. This includes initiatives to further the field of Speech-Language Pathology, as well as raise awareness regarding the nature of speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders among the general public and other healthcare professionals.

Each team member holds membership with our state’s professional organization, the Iowa Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ISHA), and national professional organization, the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).

In addition, members are actively involved with several special interest professional organizations, including Dysphagia Research Society (DRS), American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA), Division 2, Neurophysiology and Neurogenic Speech and Language Disorders, and ASHA Special Interest Divisions: Voice and Voice Disorders, Speech Science and Orofacial Disorders,  and Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders.
