Michael P. Karnell, PhD, CCC-SLP, Director, received his PhD degree from The University of Iowa. His special skills include helping children who have speech difficulties due to cleft palate. He also specializes in voice and swallowing disorders. He has published three books and many articles having to do with speech, voice, and swallowing disorders. Karnell also teaches several courses in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology where he holds a joint appointment.
Rebecca Bartlett, MA, CCC-SLP, received her Master’s degree in speech pathology at the University of Iowa. She then completed her clinical fellowship at UIHC in May of 2007. She has developed a special interest in helping individuals with swallowing and speech disorders resulting from stroke, head injury and progressive diseases. She also treats individuals with voice disorders.
Karen Bryant, MS, CCC-SLP, received her master's degree in speech pathology from the University of Wisconsin. She specializes in helping people who have speech, language, or swallowing problems after stroke, head injury, or illness affecting how the brain works.
Todd Coleman, MS, CCC-SLP, received his master's degree in speech pathology from Illinois State University. He has developed special interests in helping people with swallowing disorders due to cancer, stroke, and head injury and helping people with voice disorders.
Scott Dailey, MA, CCC-SLP, received his master's degree in speech pathology at the University of Northern Iowa. He has special interests helping children with speech disorders related to birth defects such as cleft palate. He also has special skill and experience working with infants with feeding difficulties and with children who may have speech disorders along with behavioral problems.
Susan Davidsmeyer-Bullinger, MA, CCC-SP, received her Masters degree at the University of Iowa. Her special interests include helping individuals with abnormal voice quality.
Alice Smith, PhD, CCC-SLP, has a PhD degree from The University of Iowa. Her clinical and research interests are focused on disorders of speech due to cleft palate and related birth defects.
Ann Sporkman-Link, MA, CCC-SLP, received her master's degree in speech pathology from Saint Louis University. Her special interests and expertise includes helping people who have speech or swallowing disorders due to cancer, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease, or birth defects such as cleft palate.
Linda Ford, BA, Coordinator, has a bachelor's degree in education from The University of Iowa. As coordinator of the UI Hospitals and Clinics Speech and Swallowing Service, she works to make visits to our clinics as easy and pleasant as possible.
