What Is a Voice Disorder?
Voice is the sound created by the vibration of the vocal folds in the larynx or "voice box" during speech. 

We all have periods when our voice changes for short periods of time. These temporary changes are usually associated with a cold, or after shouting or screaming such as during an athletic even. Usually our voice returns to normal within a few days to a week or two after these events. 

If your voice changes but does not become normal again after two weeks, you could have a serious health problem. Such changes in voice may be due to:

If your voice has been abnormal for more than two weeks, you have a voice disorder and should see your doctor. If your doctor believes you would benefit from the help of a specialist, he may suggest you visit our Voice Clinic.
