The Tinnitus Clinic at The University of Iowa, Department of Otolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery is located at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
Our Tinnitus Clinic is staffed by experienced audiologists involved in tinnitus management, counseling, and sound therapy treatment.
Clinical services are available for those interested in a diagnosis evaluation and learning more about tinnitus and ways to manage their tinnitus. A variety of counseling and sound therapy approaches designed to help you understand and change your reactions to your tinnitus will be provided. Most patients receive significant benefit from one or a combination of the available treatments.
Process for Being Seen in the Tinnitus Clinic
Step ONE: It is recommended that you consult with your physician (or your otolaryngologist- Ear Nose and Throat physician) about your tinnitus prior to being seen in the Tinnitus Clinic.
If you wish, we can make an appointment for you to see one of our otolaryngologists (call 319 356 2201).
Step TWO: Attend a Group Education Session
This session will last for 1.5 hours, and will review:
- prevalence of tinnitus
- causes of tinnitus
- description of the hearing mechanism
- common reactions to tinnitus
- options in the management of tinnitus.
- detailed summary describing each component of our Tinnitus Management Clinic
The cost of this appointment is $100, which you must pay before the Session (checks, Master Card or Visa). Most insurance companies do not cover this service.
Tinnitus Group Education Sessions are held monthly.
If further treatment is desired following the Group Session, you will be scheduled for:
