An Ivy League graduate from Harvard University with a degree in Biochemistry, Robert Hong proceeded to UC Irvine College of Medicine to complete his Medical Degree. His time at UC Irvine was broken by a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship at the University of Iowa between 7/01-06/02, where he investigated signal processing and music perception in cochlear implants with Jay Rubinstein and Kate Gfeller. Concurrent with his residency, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in Hearing Sciences with Christopher Turner, continuing his work in cochlear implants by researching ways to improve the perception of speech in noise in cochlear implant recipients.
His love of music and a desire to share it with everyone drew him to Otolaryngology and he is an accomplished Pianist, Violinist and former member of a Celtic Band.
