Virginia Driscoll, MA, MT-BC

Ginny is a board-certified music therapist and lead Research Specialist for the Music Perception team. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Therapy at East Carolina University in 2001 and her Master of Arts degree in Music Therapy at the University of Iowa  in 2006. Ginny’s responsibilities include evaluations of adults and children with cochlear implants, hearing loss and normal hearing with regard to music perception. Using the information gained in those evaluations, she provides rehabilitation suggestions for parents and teachers of children with cochlear implants and hearing loss in the music classroom. Ginny’s primary focus is improving the perception of music by individuals with cochlear implants through the development of online training programs for adults aimed at exploring processing and understanding of degraded auditory signals. She provides and supervises Music Therapy services for children through a partnership with Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists at the Wendell-Johnson Speech and Hearing Center’s Listen & Speak Up summer program.
