Child Health Clinic

Purpose
The Child Health Clinic provides infants, children, or adolescents with high quality, reasonably priced well-child and sick child care.

Who can come to the clinic?
The Child Health Clinic provides care to any infant, child, or adolescent in this area whose family requests the service.

What services are offered?
The clinic staff members provide a variety of child health services including:

  • routine well-child health supervision
  • health education
  • counseling
  • immunizations
  • diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness

For severe or unusual health problems, the clinic has access to the faculty, staff and other diagnostic facilities within the Department of Pediatrics and University Hospitals and Clinics.

Who will see your child?
The Child Health Clinic functions as a group practice involving medical students, pediatric nurse practitioners and pediatric residents supervised by staff pediatricians.

In order to provide continuity and personalized care, new patients are scheduled with a physician who will serve as your child's primary pediatrician. Requests for specific doctors or pediatric nurse practitioners will be honored whenever possible.

For regularly scheduled visits, every effort is made to schedule your child with the same physician. However, in the event of emergencies or acute illness your regular physician may not be available and care may be provided by another physician.

For times when you need information about your child's health, you may call the Child Health Clinic (356- 3553) and speak with a nurse. The nurse will give you appropriate advice, consult with your child's doctor, or make arrangements for your child to be seen in the clinic.

Well-child examination and immunization schedule
Regularly scheduled health maintenance visits and immunizations at recommended intervals are the best way to ensure the health and well-being of your infant, child or adolescent.

The following schedule is recommended for most children. Your doctor may modify this schedule according to your child's health and immunization status.

If your child has an immunization record, please bring it with you so that the record may be updated. If you have a school physical form (e.g., sport physical, daycare) please present it to the nurse upon entering the examination room.
