Hemophilia Homecare Program

Our mission statement and commitment

UI Hospitals and Clinics Hemophilia Homecare Program is dedicated to giving patients with bleeding disorders access to not only the best prices for factor concentrates and related pharmaceuticals, but support services including reimbursement specialists to handle insurance issues and a financial counselor to assist in all areas of reimbursement in order for each patient to maintain a quality level of homecare. The goal of the program is to provide high-quality service at the lowest cost available to help you maximize your insurance dollars and allow you to extend your lifetime insurance limits.

Homecare means more than just delivering factor; it involves having someone who understands your needs and is dedicated to working with you to design a homecare program with those needs in mind.

Benefits of using our program

This program was developed to take advantage of the Veteran's Health Care Act of 1992, allowing federally funded centers, such as the UI Hospitals and Clinics Hemophilia Treatment Center, to be eligible for reduced pricing on factor. As a not-for-profit program, these savings are passed directly on to the patient to provide relief from ever-increasing drug costs.

Our services include:

  • A wide range of factor concentrates
  • Oral medications at a competitive price
  • All infusion-related supplies at no charge
  • Educational materials, including handbooks and video tape
  • Overnight shipping
  • Postage-paid hazardous waste containers
  • Filing of medical claims and paperwork
  • Financial counselor to assist in all reimbursement areas
  • Assistance in coordinating local needs, such as nursing, physical therapy, and durable medical equipment

All factor orders and prescriptions are shipped via overnight delivery for arrival Tuesday through Saturday. There are no Sunday or Monday deliveries of factor.
