The Division of Neonatology is responsible for all newborns admitted to the Department of Pediatrics. The state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) houses up to 70 critically ill newborns, all in single rooms. The unit is equipped with the latest equipment and staffed by a large team of highly trained nurses and other staff. A laboratory within the NICU provides around-the-clock service.

- Specialized care of all newborn medical and surgical problems
- Prenatal consultation with high-risk obstetrics patients
- Attendance at high-risk deliveries
- Care of premature and extremely premature infants
- Care of critically-ill full-term infants
- Surgical repair of birth defects by specialists in Pediatric Surgery,
Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, Pediatric Neurosurgery, Pediatric Orthopedics,
Pediatric Otolaryngology, Pediatric Urology
- Pediatric transplantation programs for bone marrow, heart, kidney,
and liver
- Consultants in all pediatric subspecialties
- Specialized care of neonatal lung problems
- High-frequency ventilation (oscillation and flow-interruption)
- Inhaled nitric oxide
- Total body hypothermia
- Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)
- Renal supportive therapy, including hemofiltration, hemodialysis,
and peritoneal dialysis
- Individualized developmental assessment and care of premature infants
- Transport of critically-ill infants (including, if necessary, transport
on high-frequency ventilation or nitric oxide)
- Outpatient follow-up care of high-risk infants
