The training program is located in the Department of Pediatrics within the College of Medicine in collaboration with the Interdepartmental Program in Genetics, which is a Ph.D.-granting program including emphasis in human genetics.

Participating faculty members hold appointments in the Departments of Biochemistry, Biology, Medicine, Obstetrics, Pathology, Pediatrics and Psychiatry.  A variety of courses are available leading to Ph.D. and M.D./Ph.D. degrees with particular emphasis in clinical genetics, biochemical genetics, molecular genetics, cytogenetics, psychiatric genetics, and prenatal diagnosis.

The University of Iowa provides outstanding opportunities for a clinical experience as well as exposure to antenatal testing and a variety of specialty clinics.
