The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is the only comprehensive health care center in Iowa. The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology offers a full range of therapies including bone marrow transplant, comprehensive hemophilia care, comprehensive hemoglobinopathy care, and inpatient/outpatient general hematology and oncology services.
Fast Facts:
Trainee’s clinical assignments are carried out in the same hospital except for one month in the first two years.
Trainees take call from home 1 in every 4 weeknights and 1 in every 4 weekends.
Trainees manage their own patients in the outpatient clinic.
Our inpatient unit admits over 600 hematology/oncology patients per year.
Our outpatient clinic has over 3200 visits per year.
Our state-of-the-art bone marrow transplant unit opened January 2003.
