The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is the only comprehensive health care center in Iowa.  The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology offers a full range of therapies including bone marrow transplant, comprehensive hemophilia care, comprehensive hemoglobinopathy care, and inpatient/outpatient general hematology and oncology services.

Patient and Fellow
  • Trainee’s clinical assignments are carried out in the same hospital except for one month in the first two years.
  • Trainees take call from home 1 in every 4 weeknights and 1 in every 4 weekends.
  • Trainees manage their own patients in the outpatient clinic.
  • Our inpatient unit admits over 600 hematology/oncology patients per year.
  • Our outpatient clinic has over 3200 visits per year.
  • Our state-of-the-art bone marrow transplant unit opened January 2003.
  • U.S. News & World Report ranks the Pediatric graduate school programs 22nd.
  • UI Hospital ranks among U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Hospitals.”
  • One of our pediatric hematology/oncology faculty are included among the “Best Doctors in America.”
Our trainees receive excellent training in clinical pediatric hematology/oncology based upon the wide variety of patients, diverse teaching conferences and manageable caseload.
