Clinical Interests
All gastrointestinal and liver disorders of childhood, with special interest in gastrointestinal motility disorders and functional gastrointestinal disorders
Research Interests
Our lab studies the mechanisms involved in the regulatory and protective roles of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) against gut inflammation and oxidative stress. We also study the mechanisms of gastrointestinal involvement in cystic fibrosis using a novel CFTR-/- pig model. We employ upper GI endoscopy and endoscopic pancreatic function tests, light and confocal microscopy, ELISA assays of cytokine production, immunoblotting, RT-PCR and real-time RT-PCR, and assays to measure cellular redox state. |
