The Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent medicine
conducts the majority of its on-site ambulatory activities in the state
of the art Family Care Center (FCC). FCC General Pediatrics clinics include
Adolescent Clinic, Acute Care Clinic, Diagnostic Clinic and Growth Clinic
which provide a broad spectrum of health maintenance, acute and chronic
conditions common to the practice of general pediatrics. During the residents
assignment to the clinic, he/she participates in the management of many
acute and chronic problems of pediatric-age patients. The FCC is a multi-specialty
primary care clinic with contiguous clinic space for General Internal
Medicine, Family Medicine and General Pediatrics. Pharmacy, radiology
and clinical laboratories are adjacent to the clinical space affording
added convenience for patients and families. Pediatric clinic visits account
for approximately 20,000 of the 85,000 annual visits to the FCC.
The Pediatric Subspecialty Outpatient Clinic is a cheerful and bustling
facility, which provides a wealth of learning experiences for resident
education. While rotating through the various subspecialty services, residents
are assigned to subspecialty clinics, which may include cardiology, child
neurology, hematology/oncology and rheumatology, endocrinology, nephrology,
genetics, neuromuscular diseases, infectious diseases, gastroenterology
and nutrition, allergy and pulmonary diseases, and psychology.
Both clinics provides well-equipped examination rooms, treatment rooms,
conference rooms, and observation teaching rooms. Diagnostic facilities
within the clinic include a hematology laboratory, speech and hearing
center, pulmonary function exercise laboratory, and resident laboratory.
An efficient and dedicated nursing staff is an integral part of the clinic
team. Consultative services from nutritionists, psychologists, social
workers and audiologists are readily available.
