Child Health Specialty Clinics

University of Iowa Children's Hospital

The Child Health Specialty Clinics program is a public health program providing services to Children with Special Health Care Needs throughout the state. Practicing Iowa physicians refer children and youth to regional clinics located in their areas for diagnostic evaluations, care coordination and other enabling services. Faculty of the departments of Pediatrics, Orthopaedics, and Otolaryngology, as well as resident physicians, examine children at diagnostic CHSC clinics throughout the state of Iowa. Children may also be evaluated by psychologists, speech and hearing consultants, physical therapists, and patient service consultants. The clinics provide follow-up services for children with cystic-fibrosis, cardiac problems, genetically determined muscle disorders, and other clinical problems.
