Outpatient evaluation for an eating disorder can begin with a referral from
any mental health professional or concerned person, such as family, teachers,
coaches, or oneself. Evaluation involves meeting with a psychologically trained
professional and a faculty member.
A variety of treatment options are available through the outpatient clinic
including group session, individual cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, nutritional
consultation and medication prescription and management. Leaders of these groups
use cognitive behavioral principles to change attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors
that are the result of the eating disorder, allowing a person to continue in
school or work.
