PET Imaging in Huntington's disease


Investigator: Jane S. Paulsen, PhD

Description:Individuals who are known to have the gene expansion for Huntington's disease are continually being recruited for a 3-4 hour study. Participants will undergo Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanning while performing certain simple tasks.

By detecting metabolic activity in the brain, the PET procedure produces pictures like those shown above. Researchers can analyze these pictures to identify which areas of the brain are active during specific tasks.
