Current Residents: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry


Michael Gummow received a BA in Business from the University of Minnesota in 1988 and graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in 2004.  He is currently pursuing a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. 

Elaine Himadi attended the University of North Caroline at Chapel Hill as an undergraduate and graduated from Bowman-Gray School of Medicine in 1978.  She completed her Pediatrics residency at UMass in Worchester, MA from 1978-1981. She became interested in learning disorders and sought a teaching degree in 1995 for K-8.  She was a vice-principal at a middle school in Hawaii from 2001-2003 and taught school from 2003-2004.  She came to the Center for Development and Disability for a developmental pediatrics fellowship in 2005. Her professional interests include learning disorders, eating disorders, and pediatric dentistry. 

Qazi Javed is a graduate of King Edward Medical College, Lahore, Pakistan in 2003.  He completed 3 years of his Adult Psychiatry Residency at the University of Wisconsin, Madison before pursing a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Iowa beginning in 2007.  His professional interests are psychodynamic development of children.

Jen McWilliams received a BA in English from the University of Nebraska in 1996.  After working as a technical writer at a large corporation for four years, she entered medical school and graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 2004.  She completed the first two years of her General Psychiatry residency at the University of Iowa before joining the Child and Adolescent program.

Leslie Murray graduated from Norfolk State University in 1999 with a degree in Biology.  She then attended Northwestern University completing both Masters in Public Heath and MD degrees in 2003.  Leslie completed her General Psychiatry training at The Medical College of Wisconsin in 2007.  She joined the Child Psychiatry Department in 2007. Her professional interests include health policy research and eating disorders.  

Susan Pike received her BA in French from Dominican University, River Forest, IL 1971, an MSLS, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign 1975, and an MD from the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Springfield, IL 2003. She completed 3 years of the combined Family Practice-Psychiatry program at the University of Iowa before joining the Child Psychiatry Department in 2006.
