Residents and Fellows Training Programs
Call and Work Hours
Call
- Child Psychiatry residents do not take overnight call unless they are transferring from the General Psychiatry program at the University of Iowa and have time remaining to complete their call obligations.
- Residents cover clinic call during business hours when they are assigned to the outpatient clinic. Residents do not cover clinic call when assigned to the inpatient unit or off-service rotations (e.g.: Pediatric Neurology). On average, residents cover call two half days per week.
Work Hours
- Outpatient clinic: Patients scheduled between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Inpatient unit: Coverage responsibility 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; plus weekend rounds
- We enforce STRICT adherence to work hour limitations.
