University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics' Center of Excellence in Image-guided Radiation Therapy opened in June 2005 and offers world-class cancer care in advanced accommodations.

As a component of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center the Center of Excellence:

• Broadens Iowa’s multidisciplinary research programs and attracts additional research funding
• Contributes significantly to UI Health Care’s patient care, biomedical research, and medical education missions
• Alleviates physical limitations in existing facilities
• Is a national leader in patient care and cancer research
• Enables UI’s cancer specialists within the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center to serve Iowa’s radiation oncology needs well into the 21^st century
