Dr. John Bayouth joined the Department of Radiation Oncology June of 2004 as the Director of Medical Physics. A native of the Midwest, Dr. Bayouth earned his undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Nuclear Engineering from Kansas State University, with emphasis in radiation transport theory and experimental radiation dosimetry. Upon graduation, Dr. Bayouth pursued his doctorate at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center with his dissertation focused on compiling a dosimetric study of radionuclide therapy for bone marrow ablation for multiple myeloma patients prior to bone marrow transplantation.
Dr. Bayouth's prior professional appointments include University of Pittsburgh and the University of Texas at Galveston. During these appointments, Dr. Bayouth continued his clinical research, with emphasis in intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiotherapy (IGT), making him a young but established researcher in his field. His continued research in this area is a perfect match for the department's focus on stereotactic radiotherapy and image guided therapy for prostate cancer. |
