After graduating from the University of Iowa with his MD, Dr. Hass then completed residencies in both surgery and radiology, serving for 2 years as a captain of the Medical Military Service for the United States Army in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
While Dr. Hass then returned to Iowa and became an assistant professor of Radiology for many years, he is perhaps best known for his extensive private practice in Cedar Rapids, and serving as the director of the Margaret and Howard Hall Radiation Center. In addition to these achievements, Dr. Hass has also been the medical director of the Eastern Iowa Center for Cancer Detection and the president of the Cedar Rapids Oncology Project. An active clinical researcher, Dr. Hass has participated in NCI's Clinical Investigator North Central Cancer Treatment Group increasing treatment options for cancer patients.
Dr. Hass has been awarded many honors, including two Quality of Life awards from the American Cancer Society, Patient Advocate of the Year from the American Cancer Society, and has been recognized yearly by the American Medical Association with the Physicians Recognition Award for Continuing Education from 1976 to 2000. |
