Originally starting his schooling at UNI, Dr. Modrick pursued the fields of both physics and medical physics, earning Masters' degrees in each. Dr. Modrick obtained his doctorate in medical physics in 2000 with his thesis emphasis in dosimetry. Returning to Iowa after his graduation, Dr. Modrick joined the Radiation Oncology team and quickly became an invaluable member in cancer treatment planning.
Dr. Modrick is dedicated to the UIHC core triad of teaching, research, and patient care, performing all three daily. Dr. Modrick's research currently focuses on brachytherapy, developing improvements in dosimetry and administration. Dr. Modrick also instructs residents and therapist students on medical physics and MammoSite, a brachytherapy available here at UIHC for some breast cancer patients. Dr. Modrick then takes his experience into the clinics, working closely with the oncologists and dosimetrists to create the most effective radiation treatment plan tailored to each individual patient. |
