  • BS, Iowa State University, 1993
  • Computer Science & Biomedical Program, 1995
  • MD, University of Iowa, 1999
  • Iowa & Wisconsin licensure
  • Complete Curriculum Vitae

A native Iowan, Dr. Smith earned his degrees at Iowa universities: his undergraduate degree in medical physics at Iowa State University, and his medical degree at the University of Iowa's College of Medicine. Dr. Smith furthered his medical education with a residency in Radiation Oncology at Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.

Now established, Dr. Smith is beginning his clinical research career, focusing on utilizing different imaging techniques to evaluate treatment efficacy and cancer metastasis. His current research involves using spectrophotometry to evaluate treatment efficacy in prostate cancer patients. This imaging would prove useful, as prostate cancers normally do not show up well using other imaging systems, such as FDG PET.

Away from research, Dr. Smith works in both the CNS cancer interdisciplinary clinic and the Prostate/GU interdisciplinary clinic.
