Financial Support
Graduate Research Assistantships:
The Free Radical and Radiation Biology Graduate Program (FRRB) is pleased
to announce that for the academic year 2007-2008 Graduate Research Assistantships
will be $23,000 for a 12-month appointment. (This is a higher rate than
the NIH guidelines specify). In addition, the Program will pay for tuition
and fees if the student is in good academic standing, and make contributions to the health insurance plan for the
student. The program also has provisions for sick leave and vacation time
for all students.
Over 80% of the graduate students in the program are supported as Graduate
Research Assistants. This is ideal for the student as it allows them to
immediately begin their research program leading to the PhD The remaining
students have support from NRSA training awards or from grants written
by the graduate student to appropriate funding agencies. For example,
we currently have a student supported by the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research
Program.
We make every effort to ensure there is money to support the living expenses
of every graduate student in the Program.
