John Buatti is now the Deputy Director of Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center


John Buatti, MDJohn Buatti, MD, professor and head of Radiation Oncology, is the new Deputy Director of Clinical Cancer Care, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. In that role, Dr. Buatti oversees and coordinates all clinical activities in the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. In addition, he is charged with working with medical center and Cancer Center leadership to develop a plan to provide excellent care to cancer patients while growing volume in the cancer service line. As Deputy Director of Clinical Cancer Care, Dr. Buatti reports to Cancer Center Director Dr. George Weiner and the chief executive officer of UI Hospitals and Clinics. He will continue to serve as professor and head of Radiation Oncology.

Dr. Buatti came to The University of Iowa from the University of Florida in 1999 as Division Director of Radiation Oncology, and in 2001 became chair of the newly created Department of Radiation Oncology. He has done a tremendous job creating a patient-centered environment and delivering state of the art cancer care in our Center of Excellence in Image-Guided Radiation Therapy and is a great addition to our Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center leadership team.
