Residency Program — Research

Each resident in the program participates in departmental research. Each resident has great latitude in choosing their individual clinical research or laboratory experience, pursuant to the approval of the radiation oncology faculty. It is our belief that the research experience can greatly aid the development of skills necessary for reading and interpreting the scientific literature, which are vital to the continuing education of all radiation oncologists. The goals and objectives of the research program are as follows:

  1. Introduce residents to the full and rigorous application of the scientific method.
  2. Introduce residents to scientific writing. It is hoped that each resident will author or co-author multiple papers during this year.
  3. Introduce the resident, in depth, to an area of scientific research. This could form the basis for continued research productivity in their future scientific careers.
