What seemed like futuristic fantasy only a few years ago is reality at UI Hospitals and Clinics with its minimally invasive robotic surgery services.

The da Vinci® robot enables surgeons, working from a computer console several feet from the patient, to work at a scale smaller than conventional surgery while at the same time getting a closer look at the surgical site than normal human vision allows. With this FDA-approved system, a surgeon operates without physically touching the patient. For patients, this results in less tissue damage during surgery, reduced postoperative pain, and quicker healing.
