Study on Nighttime Urinary Frequency/Urgency Seeks Participants

Men and women age 18 and older who have strong, sudden urges to urinate, especially at night, or have had the need to urinate frequently for three or more months are invited to participate in a University of Iowa research study.

The study will evaluate whether a new FDA-approved medication approved for overactive bladder can help reduce nighttime urinary frequency and urgency.

Individuals with a history of interstitial cystitis are not eligible to participate.

The study involves five visits to UI Hospitals and Clinics over 16 weeks. Participants will randomly be assigned to take the active study medication or a placebo (an inactive pill). All participants are asked to keep a voiding diary.

The study drug or placebo and related tests are provided at no cost. Compensation for clinic visits and parking is also available.

For more information, contact Mary Eno, study coordinator, at 319-384-9265 or mary-eno@uiowa.edu.
