The Department of Urology currently offers a 5-day mini-fellowship opportunity in urologic laparoscopic, robotic, and endoscopic surgery. See below for registration and application information.
Course Director Beginning in the animal laboratory in 1988, Dr. Winfield began pioneering efforts in laparoscopic surgery and brought this to the clinical arena in 1990. He performed the world's first laparoscopic partial nephrectomy in 1992, at the University of Iowa. Dr. Winfield has directed and participated in numerous laparoscopic training seminars and is considered a leader in this rapidly expanding field. He helped spearhead the robotic daVinci surgery program at the University of Iowa in 2002. Dr. Winfield is a Professor of Urology, and Director of Endourology and Minimally Invasive Surgery.
