Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death for women today. One important way medical professionals have addressed this is by teaching women to examine themselves regularly, and advising women to consult their practitioner if an irregularity is found.

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Medical Museum is pleased to announce an upcoming exhibition, Common Threads: The Lives and Stories of Women Living With Breast Cancer. Artist Cynthia O'Dell depicts women who have developed breast cancer in eleven large, visually powerful quilts. Common Threads will open the first week in March and will be at the Medical Museum for three months.
