Adult Psychiatry


Unit Description: 22 bed unit

Patient Population: Eight of the unit's beds are designated for patients with eating disorders. The remaining 14 beds are for general psychiatry patients with an emphasis on mood disorders.

Unit Information: 1JPW is one of the few in-patient eating disorder programs in the nation. Patient referrals come from across the nation. Many of the RNs take advantage of advanced training opportunities in working with patients with emotional management issues.

1JPW is very much a multi-disciplinary unit where nursing meets regularly with physicians, social workers, Occupational therapists, recreational therapists, pharmacists and others to discuss patient care concerns. The basis of treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy.
