Neuropsychiatric Unit
Unit Description: 22 bed locked unit.
Patient Population: The unit consists of a general psychiatric population with an emphasis on patients with psychotic disorders.
Unit Information: The biological model is used in the treatment of psychotic disorders. Support therapy, coping skills, anger and stress management classes are offered. Also, symptom and medication management classes are provided for all patients. The multidisciplinary treatment team works closely with community support groups for appropriate community discharge planning.
2JPW is a multi-disciplinary unit where nurses meet regularly with physicians, social workers, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, pharmacists and others to discuss patient care concerns.
