Nursing Clinical Practice

Nurse with Patient Nurse with Patient Nurse with Patient Nurse with Patient
Nurses at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics work in an active, patient and family centered environment. As the only comprehensive, tertiary level healthcare center in Iowa, we treat patients with a wide range of diagnoses and acuity, both in a multidisciplinary outpatient and inpatient milieu.

Nursing practice is evidence-based. The Department of Nursing Services and Patient Care is a national leader in evidence-based practice and our nurses are encouraged to question, practice, think critically and base decisions on data and the current best evidence and best practices.

The Department of Nursing encourages innovative nursing practice. Staff members may participate in research, evaluation of new technology and in the Professional Nursing Practice Staff Nurse Consultant Panel.

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics nurses benefit from our close relationship with the University of Iowa College of Nursing and some of its highly ranked programs.

U.S.News & World Report ranks the College's graduate nursing program in the top 15 and its nurse practitioner programs are among the top 10 in the nation.
