New Technology Evaluation

Nurse with Bar Code Scanner

In 2005, the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics implemented wireless bar coding technology for all the inpatient and outpatient care areas. The equipment purchased for this project was based on evaluation and trialing by the staff nurses at the hospital.

Future technology systems purchases will be chosen in the same way, with bedside staff nurse input, as these are the personnel who will use the technology.
