The UI Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing Services and Patient Care, in collaboration with the UI College of Nursing, is pleased to offer an annual residency program for all new graduate nurses hired by UI Hospitals and Clinics.
The program's mission is to educate, support, and offer professional development and work/life balance for new graduate nurses at UI Hospitals and Clinics.
The Nurse Residency Program addresses the complexity and challenges with transitioning from a new graduate to experienced nurse. Participants in the program will be presented with new ideas, given support with their transition and become better equipped with the tools required to analyze, plan, and implement solutions to the challenges they face. The program has been designed to develop, sustain, and energize new graduates employed by the Department of Nursing.
The residency program educational component consists of four-hour monthly sessions. The program length is 12 months for each residency cohort. During the sessions there will be didactic and hands-on learning experiences, time for networking with other new graduates and small group activities facilitated by a nurse expert.
