Recognition Day Honors Nursing Excellence

Many UIHC nursing staff and colleagues were recognized for their contributions to the department in areas such as education programs for patient care, improving patient outcomes via quality management projects, evidence based practice projects, new innovations or practice changes, leading a process improvement team, staff education projects/programs or expanding practice to include community service projects or activities.

Forty-six posters were displayed recognizing this work with awards given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place posters receiving the most votes from those attending the event. Five $100 Professional Development Certificates were also awarded to nurses who registered during the event.

Winners were as follows:

• 1st place poster: Child's Play: Michelle Selch
• 2nd place poster: Out of Africa: Jackie Heinle
• 3rd place poster (tie): Fresh Fruits: Linda Moeller
  United We Stand: Sandy Danielson and Sara Caven

Linda Everett will be meeting with each group to present a certificate and ribbon.

Barbara Rakel, former APN and Chairperson of Recognition Day, was honored at a special reception during the event to wish her well as she embarks on a new career at the University of Iowa College of Nursing.
