Rosanna Seabold, Committee Member of the Nursing Recognition Committee stands by the magnet display case honoring the Nursing Recognition Poster Winners and Barbara Rakel, PhD, RN

Nursing Recognition Day
Over 1000 RNs at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics were honored by the Nursing Recognition Committee on September 14 & 15, 2005, for their contributions to quality, education or research projects in the department. In addition, 57 educational posters created by nurses were displayed in the Solarium for 24 hours. Visitors to the poster display voted on their favorite poster. The poster winners were:

1st Place: "Child's Play" by Michelle Selch
2nd Place: "Out of Africa" by Jackie Heinle
3rd Place (tie): "United We Stand" by Sara Caven and Sandy Danielson
3rd Place (tie): "Not eating fruits and vegetables will lower infections in the Neutropenic Patient: True or False" by Linda Moeller

Barbara Rakel, PhD, RN
As Chair of the Nursing Recognition Day Committee, Barbara Rakel, PhD, RN was honored at a special reception during the display. Barb has worked for the Department of Nursing for 20 consecutive years and is now working at the College of Nursing.
