The Magnet Display Case featuring 4SE:

4SE Display in the Magnet Showcase

4SE is a unique 12 bed inpatient unit that cares for complex medical patients with psychiatric illness. It is a unit that utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that includes: nurses, nursing assistants, physicians, physical and occupational therapists. 4SE is part of the MS II Division and will soon be part of the new BHS Division.

The nurse manager, Ms. Marcia Gingerich heads a staff that includes 17 Registered Nurses and 17 Nursing Assistants and Clerks. All the nursing staff are integral to the care and treatment of these patients and responsible for the excellent outcomes this unit has. The dedicated nursing staff of 4SE are proud of their commitment to patient care, community involvement and collegiality.

As one of the first Medical-Psychiatric Inpatient Units in the nation, the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is proud to have such a dynamic and unique unit.
