When considering a theme to represent the Magnet Journey 2007-2008, the Magnet Steering Committee selected this quilt icon. Just as a quilt is the result of the skill, talent, and artistry of the people who make it, so too is an excellent nursing department created by the skilled, talented, and artistic people who join together to provide excellent care to patients and families.

Throughout 2007 and early 2008, nursing units were invited to design and create their own quilt square—one that represents the strengths of their unit. A hospital-wide Magnet quilting bee was held 7 a.m. March 3 to 7 a.m. and March 4 to stitch the Magnet quilt.

These quilt squares were then joined to form the “Journey Quilt”.
