Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery Clinic
Unit Description: 28 exam rooms, 2 procedure rooms, 2 bed recovery, 4 teaching/consult rooms
Patient Populations: Adult and pediatric, medical and surgical management of disease, conditions of head and neck. Inpatient and outpatient populations (adult and pediatric) include: head and neck oncology, otology, sinus/nasal conditions, craniofacial anomalies, facial trauma, plastic surgery and pediatric otolaryngology.
Unit Information: Number of patients seen daily: 150-200; Hours of operation: 0700-1800, Monday through Friday.
Awards and distinctions: Second on US News and World Report list of top ten Otolaryngology departments; 7 nurses certified in Otorhinolaryngology.
Other information about the unit: We are proud of our new environment in the Pomerantz Family Pavilion. A nurse manages each subspecialty clinic daily. Nurses triage 40-60 calls per day, exhibiting superb assessment and interviewing skills. Nurses participate in numerous multidisciplinary efforts including clinic operations, patient education, Tumor Board, cleft team, and research studies.
Subspecialty clinics managed by a registered nurse include: Head and Neck Oncology, Pediatric Otolaryngology, Facial Plastics, General Otolaryngology, Cleft Lip and Palate/Craniotacial, and Neurotology. Multidisciplinary teams coordinate care for head and neck oncology, cleft lip and palate, endothyroid and allergy patients.
