Victoria M. Steelman, PhD, Advanced Practice Nurse/Research and Quality, Perioperative Nursing Division, will be inducted as a Fellow (FAAN) of the American Academy of Nursing in November 2007.
Steelman is a leader in the application of research findings in clinical practice. Her work has resulted in state-of-the-science national perioperative recommendations for patient care. She is primary author of nine AORN (Association of periOperative Registered Nurses) Recommended Practices and contributing author to 27 others. She developed and implemented an innovative, annual, national evidence-based practice competition, a successful strategy for moving evidence into practice. She has 56 additional publications and is guest editor of the evidence-based practice issue of Perioperative Nursing Clinics. She has given 58 national presentations, and provided over 100 national and international consultations, including priority-setting with the Cochrane Collaboration.
