UI Hospitals and Clinics nurses who were recipients and semi-finalists for the Nursing Excellence in Clinical Education Award were recognized at a November 29 ceremony. The award honors staff nurses and nurse leaders who demonstrate excellence in the characteristics of learning, educational leadership, staff/patient advocacy, professional presentation, and innovative spirit.

The award is established jointly by the Department of Nursing Services and Patient Care and the University of Iowa College of Nursing, coordinated through the Nursing Education Collaboratory and the Nursing Clinical Education Center.

This year's recipients are:

  • Nancy Downing, RN, BSN (BHS Division/4SE) in the staff nurse category
  • Linda Abbott, RN, MSN and Martha Blondin, RN, MSN (both from MSS Division/SNU) in the nurse leader category
