Basing practice on research findings or other evidence is facilitated by the use of the Iowa Model of Evidence-Based Practice to Improve Quality Care (Titler, Kleiber, Steelman, Rakel, et al., 2001) a revision of the Iowa Model of Research Utilization (1994).
The Iowa Model has several distinct advantages; it provides a guide for clinical decision-making, it provides details regarding implementation of evidence-based practice, and it includes both the practitioner and organizational perspective.
Permission for use of the Iowa model can be obtained by completing the Request for Permission to Use and/or Reproduce the Iowa Model of Evidence-Based Practice to Promote Quality Care (pdf).
