Youth Advisory Council
Our Story

"I joined YAC because I spent much of my childhood at University of Iowa Children's Hospital and saw it change so much over the years that I wanted to help too. I have had cancer three times in the past and passed with flying colors. I had a great first experience at YAC."

—Abbey

"I want to thank everyone who made the Youth (and Family) Advisory Councils. The meetings, listening to patients' input and opinions – that is the definition of 'patient and family centered care.'"

—Seth

"This is my first year on YAC. I decided to join because I wanted to do something more to help the hospital. I have been in the hospital a lot as a family member and at the clinic as a patient. It just seemed like it would be a good thing to be a part of."

—Kaitlyn
