The Office of Patient Relations also staffs the Boulware Day of Surgery Lounge. The Day of Surgery Lounge staff facilitate communication between the family and the operating room or recovery room.

Lois Boulware, MD, used a holistic approach to health care. She knew in 1972 that it was not only the patient’s experience that was important, but that families need support as well. She created the Day of Surgery Lounge, an area where families can wait while family members were in surgery.
