J. Christopher Austin, MD
Dr. Austin was recently awarded Subspecialty Certification in Pediatric Urology as an American Board of Urology Diplomate. Dr. Austin and Dr. Cooper are the only two subspecialty-certified pediatric urologists in the state of Iowa.
Dr. Austin specializes in all aspects of genitourinary disorders in children and devotes his time entirely to the care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric Specialty Clinic.
Dr. Austin graduated from Northwestern University in 1990 and earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1994. He completed his urology residency at the University of Iowa in 2000, and went on to complete a two-year Pediatric Urology Fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. During his fellowship he received extensive training in reconstructive surgery and minimally invasive and innovative treatments.
Additionally, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is a major center for fetal diagnosis and therapy, and Dr. Austin trained extensively in newer diagnostic techniques for fetal malformations, as well as the postnatal care of children undergoing fetal intervention.
